Burning And Looting Chicago
After we stayed home during the protest (due to avoiding mass gatherings rather than avoiding the cause - Covid 19 is still out there), we wandered around our neighborhood early next morning to see what the not so concerned tried to achieve. Well, as would be expected they just left behind what the not so bright tend to leave behind in a case like this: signs of self-centered greed, destruction and indifference.
Protesters (the majority) protest, verbally, artistically and creatively making a point. Looters (a minority) loot and thwart the actions of the protesters, often harming and discrediting the reputation of the protest movement. In the wake of the murder of George Floyd and the momentum the movement could actually pick up, this is particularly sad and frustrating.
Not all actions of ill anger management are the same. In my opinion there´s a big difference between tagging and physically destroying a property.
Let´s hope that the protests coming up and the potential political impact they could have don´t suffer from these thoughtless actions.
