Smartphone Travel Pics

When travelling I always have a camera and one or two lenses with me, all stored in a small bag I carry over my shoulder. It´s a small system-camera with changeable lenses, much smaller than the DSLR cameras I used to have. I shoot most pictures with that camera.

Sometimes I see things that I really don´t want to take a picture of, an odd object, certain situations, or things I document in order not to forget them later on. These things I shoot with my smartphone. Or I see things that I do want to take a picture of, for example the ones I use for my instagram stories. It´s not that I don´t take decent pictures with the smartphone, I actually have a vast collection of really good smartphone pics, most in square format and black and white. But just not while travelling. I then tend to use the "real" camera and use the smartphone for casual snapshots. Mostly.

Most of the pictures will be deleted at a later point, some somehow survive and are added to a collection of curiosities. Then, sometimes I´ll have enough pics with a common theme that will make a small extra collection. Just like these random pics that I took on our recent trip to Wisconsin and Michigan. The thing they have in common: they were all taken on that same trip.

The German beer that no one in Germany knows. Brewed by the same company that would later also create Beck´s, they thought up St. Pauli Girl for the US market only. Seriously: a St. Pauli girl (from the red light district of Hamburg) would never dress in an outfit from the other end of the country, let alone carry six beer glasses of an insane volume measurement.
