Close to Home: Bauhaus Interiors

Just as bright, clear and straight the lines and forms are on the outside, they are also, just as in a natural continuance, on the inside. The design is so simple and brilliant, that one wonders how this concept could have almost vanished in contemporary architecture. It seems so easy to lay out and build, all in a relative low cost way of construction, at the same time it looks functional and timeless. Well, admittedly it hasn´t quite vanished, the minimalist Bauhaus concept set a new standard that has been present ever since. I suppose it´s just a lack of conviction and detail that lets the idea not be apparent in some newly erected buildings nowadays (although there is without question great other architecture).

Here we go - Bauhaus interiors. It´s not difficult to recognize my fascination for the staircase.

Manual chain-drive for operating the windows.

Aha! Not a staircase. Instead steel tube folding chairs in the auditorium.

Read Bauhaus part 1 or go to the gallery.
