Provence - part II
Grasse by night is just as spectacular as it is by day, with the exception that it seems to be completely deserted as soon as darkness falls. Day time vampires that are afraid of the dark? They shouldn´t be, because the historic district is lit by powerful street lights which is able to even send the regular night time vampires into eternal coffin-reclusion. But the light had a great advantage for taking pictures: no tripod needed! So, why is Grasse turning into a ghost town after dark? We couldn´t find out for sure. And it´s not really a ghost town, people are there, they just stay indoors. Could it be connected with the shifting population structure? An increasing number of North African- and Arab French residents seem to be arranging themselves well with small flats in century-old houses on narrow streets. Is it easier for them to maintain their cultural heritage in a surrounding that is reminiscent of a Medina? But as far as I remember from my travels to North Africa and the Middle-East, the bigger squares and places in historic town centers were alive with people going about their business, and sitting in coffee saloons well into the evening. Theory gone bonkers? Maybe. Anyhow, it was a little odd to have the feeling that 8 pm in Grasse felt like 4 am in Berlin. At least it was nice and quiet for sleeping tight - just as vampires do in their coffins.
Every corner of the narrow streets and aisles were well lit.
No flash light needed.
Vampires or actual people?
Tumble Air drier.
Behind the wooden door - the coffin rental.
