Yesterday I saw Kraftwerk in the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. Great Band, great venue - both consequently modern. I´m still not sure about the first impression I got, that the building is a bit oversized for this kind of performance. On the other hand there couldn´t possibly be a better location, Mies van der Rohe would have approved of their presence. There was about an hour of hesitance between the band and the audience because the music wasn´t loud enough during this time, there was not enough energy radiance from the stage. But this was fixed after a while so that the remainder of the concert was a good experience.

This was the second time that I saw them live, I had the opportunity to see them at the great and progessive 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. last year. That was a really great show because the Club and its stage are a lot smaller. The connection between stage and audience is immediate and direct. More advantages are the balconies along the side and the number of bars on all sides and on all levels. 

Even though Kraftwerk are a 70´s electronic experimental band, their popularity hasn´t diminished at all. They are the pioneers of modern electronic music, and music aficionados of all ages bow their heads in recognition of their feats and pay their respects by crowding the locations wherever they appear.
