Close to Home: Public Viewing

The German Embassy in Washington D.C. organized a public viewing on of the most popular public spots in town: The Dupont Circle. For the game between Germany and the USA the location was a good choice, as it functions like an island in the middle of traffic frenzy. There are plenty of pedestrian crossings to reach the inner green haven of the circle, and police stood by to help and organize the critical time of game start and ending. Fans of both teams had a friendly flag waving, patriotic paraphernalia show off and yelling competition. Despite a German win, all´s well that ends well, as both teams advance into the round of the last 16.

At times the crowd waited in anticipation, as both teams

were stretching the nerves of fans.

Quick result updates to those who couldn´t be there.

Flag waving for a good cause. The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed.

The first and only goal of the game by Müller.

It was a good opportunity to express other views s well.

Happy fans.

A contemplative moment for this US backer. The good news is that both

teams advanced to the next round.
